Welcome

I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your family on behalf of the community of St. Vincent de Paul Primary School. The school has a long history of educating and supporting families in Strathmore and Essendon for over 80 years. The school community supports the development of each and every child to develop to their full potential.

Our Catholic values underpin all of our policies, programs and approaches to learning and teaching, providing students with opportunities to develop spiritually, emotionally, socially, physically and academically. We provide access to a wide range of educational opportunities to support each child’s development in each of these areas.

Our dedicated staff are committed to supporting and challenging children in their learning whilst providing a caring environment, where the dignity of each individual is recognised and respected.

Our school is committed  to a cycle of continual improvement where we strive to use the most effective approaches to learning and teaching, which are grounded in research.

We personalise the learning so that each child is able to articulate what they are learning, what they need to do to be successful in their learning and what the next steps in their learning are. By making the learning visible to the children we are able to achieve outstanding outcomes whilst providing a safe and engaging learning environment to do so.

By developing the learning dispositions of problem solving, risk taking, communication, respect, resilience and self discipline the school, in partnership with families, is developing successful learners for both now and into the future. These dispositions are further explained throughout our school website.

I encourage you to explore our website to gain an understanding of our approach to learning and teaching and the overall development of each child. We look forward to providing these same opportunities for your child as they begin their learning journey at St. Vincent de Paul Primary School in a faith based learning environment.

Kind regards

Shane Byrne, Principal
